Uninstall and Reinstall with Removal Tools

Goal:

To remove the software using the removal tools and to reinstall it

Warning: You will need administrative rights on the computer otherwise this will not work.


Before you Begin:

  • Close all other applications. If you are viewing this set of instructions in an email client or some other window, you may keep that window open.
  • Hold the Power Button on the scanner until the scanner shuts down. Unplug the scanner from the computer.

Step 1:

  1. a. Press the start button. if you are using Windows 10, begin typing in “Add or Remove Programs“. Select the search result that looks like the picture below.
  2. b. Press the start button. if you are using Windows 7, click on the search bar and type in “Programs and Features“. You may also select “Control Panel” from the right side of the start meny, then “Programs and Features“.

Step 2: Select and uninstall all software that begins with “OneTouch”, “Xerox”, or “Visioneer”.

  1. a. If you have bundled software such as Nuance/Kofax Paperport, Visioneer Capture, or Visioneer Organizer, those do not need to be uninstalled. Visioneer Capture OCR modules do not need to be touched either.
  2. b. To uninstall programs, select the program form the list, then the “Uninstall” button

Step 3: Click the following links to download the Driver and OneTouch Removal tools. These will open in your default internet browser to download the software.

Step 4: Navigate to your Downloads Folder.(Find more information from Microsoft on how to find your downloads folder.)

  1. a. Right-click the “Driver_Removal_Tool.exe” and select “Run as Administrator“. Click “Proceed“.
  2. b. Once the tool is completely finished, the “Proceed” button will change to “Close“. Click it and you may ignore any errors.
  3. c. Right-click the “OneTouch_Removal_Tool.exe” and select “Run as Administrator“. Click “Start“.
  4. d. Once the tool is completely finished, the “Start” button will change to “Close“.
  5. e. Restart your computer.

Step 5: Click on the following link to open the Xerox Scanner Drivers Page. Select your scanner and hit the white arrow to proceed.

  1. a. Scroll down and you will see the download links for your scanner driver and software.
  2. b. After downloading, be sure to open them up and run the installation to ensure that the dirvers and software are completely loaded onto your computer. If you are running Windows, your links will look like this:
  1. Note: Make sure that the driver and OneTouch software matches the version of Windows you are running. Also, if your scanner driver does not come with Acuity, you will see a separate download link for that.
