Barcoding with OneTouch

Barcoding with OneTouch

Goal:

To have a seperate file be created whenever the scanner detects a barcode, or a specific one

Note: For barcode reading, refer to the note at the bottom of the article.

How to separate either when “any” barcode is detected or when specific barcode text is detected:

Step 1: Open OneTouch on the bottom right of your taskbar.

Step 2: If prompted, select the scanner that is connected to your PC.

Step 3: Right click on the Scan icon. (Or, for mobile scanners, the Paper In icon)

Step 4: In the OneTouch properties window, click on the “Options” tab.

Step 5: Select “Use job separator when scanning multiple pages” and “When barcode is detected.

If you don’t enter any text below you will separate on any barcode, if you enter text it will be only separated when specific barcode text is found.

Be sure to click Apply and OK to save changes.

How to use the barcode text file in a file name:

Step 1: Click on the Configure button next to Custom File Naming.

Step 2: Under Tokens, select {Barcode}.

Step 3: Under File name template, click where you want the barcode to be placed.

Step 4: Click on the “” to add it. You can see an example of the file name under Sample Output at the bottom.

How to output a text file next to the image with a .md extension that contains all the barcodes detected and what page they were detected on:

Step 1: Go back to the OneTouch 4.6 properties page.

Step 2: Under Select Destination, select Send to Application. If you do not see this option, click on the “Options” tab on the top, then select “Show all destinations.” It should now appear in the list.

Step 3: Once selected, click on “Edit…

Step 4: Go to the “Send to Application” tab and configure the settings to your liking.
